Not to be rude, but your mom might be right. Adding words to alleviate stuttering can in turn become part of the stuttering. That goes for all "tricks". Better to work on managing the specific stutter...

I don't think a lot of that is stuttering. Like he obviously has a stutter, you can tell when he uses word replacement and such but sometimes he does seem to genuinely forgot what is going on...
