It really depends a lot on the severity of your stutter, and how you are naturally as a person. I have a very mild stutter and I am able to put on a customer service facade for a period of time well. I also talk a lot if It's about something I'm passionate. I think having a job benefits teens your age tremendously. The sense of independence, learning how to budget money and time, learning how to work and manage. Be upfront with the hiring person. For example, say you apply at a food place.. if you don't want to deal with customers much, state that and why - the stutter - and say you're interested in working in the back of the house. Sometimes we can get put there though without our knowledge. I worked at a Steak N Shake one summer and they had me doing milkshakes and desserts. I was very good at it too - smell like spoiled milk but meh. Turns out one of the servers told me that the managers had discussed having me serve but decided against it solely because of my stutter. Later, I was turned down as a tour guide for my University literally because of my stutter. They said in fewer words and I didn't realize till later. That's not right. Be wary of that if you feel you are discriminated against but also understand too that they might literally put you in a position because you are a warm body, regardless of speech.
