I think it's because we put pressure on the sentence in our head and we don't want to stutter but still do. If you didn't care it wouldn't happen....

I kinda agree. If people see you have sensitivity surrounding your stutter, they can use it against you or view you as weak or reactive. It’s better to not react sometimes....
