I find this to be the case with a alot of traits. If a girl already likes you, stuttering is cute, if she dont, she probably dont care. If a girl that dont like you sees you play piano, its kinda cool...

Often doesn't work. You stutter on your name because it's psychologically charged and tied to your identy. When you change your name the same will end up happening eventually....

I've made it a habit to say just my name (without any preceding "my name is-" or "hi, I'm-") while making eye contact and offering a handshake. I think it leaves a stronger impression too....
