My thought was that it could be a similar situation as Tourette's where it's a neuronal problem translated into the motor system. Tourette's is also a neurodivergency...
I'd say it depends. Some people have purely physical stutters, while some others like myself probably have stutters due to a known neurodivergence (autism). Others have a stutter and nothing else...
It's not all in the mind. If you're all by yourself and still stutter talking to yourself then there's a bigger problem....
Stuttering is half physical, half mental, in my opinion. I think that's why they haven't made progress curing it yet. If it was just one or the other, it would have been easier to fix....
I don’t care how silly this sounds but: When I get my phd maybe we can work together, for I want to focus my research on neurology after I get my SLP M.S....

There's a bunch of labs that study the neurological causes of stuttering. It's pretty fascinating. I know that Dr. Ludo Max (University of Washington) and Dr. David Jenson (Washington State University...
If everything else about your life is really unchanged and you developed a stutter, that seems concerning. I’ve known people who got a stutter after a brain injury but that’s it. I might run it by y...
