Personally, I think if someone picks it up and questions you on it, you feel less obliged to try and 'hide' it, so you are in fact more relaxed. That could just be my own personal experience though....

Yup, same here. Makes me greatly self-conscious. Either I try way too hard to control my stutter or become nervous which causes me to double my stuttering. Strange that it works for you....
