Now I'm grateful that our schools never do that. If it helps, try to say it in one breath? That works for me....
For me, making a complete pause with a deep breath works way better than going uhmm uhmm. If you laugh it off, people are much more understanding. I usually smile and say something like "sorry, brain...
I think nobody ever recovered from stutter. They just learn to handle it. If it is possible, there would be many people talking about it. (there are several, but mostly because of advertisment and som...
I went to a speech therapist couple of years ago and it definitely helped. I mean I still talk fast and from time to time stutter but it's a whole lot better than before....
I meant certainly don't help (fluency) very much....
Well how about speech therapy? Plenty of people swear by it. It's my understanding however that people who stutter into adulthood are less likely to be stutter-free as you put it, without a noticeabl...
I was just like you right through my 20's. I wouldn't give up hope. Part of getting older is 'acceptance of facts'. It's strangely liberating....
Accepting stuttering isn't going to be easy at all for me. It's like having someone shove literal shit down your throat daily. Just the thought of enduring stuttering for the rest of my days makes me ...
Many ppl can't do that. I'm sure its plenty who have yet to accept it. But by 'defeat' it, I mean 'stopped stuttering altogether'. I wanna kno if there's anyone who 'has been stuttering for 24 yrs but...

How did you do it? I have turned into a very bitter angry person and I don't like feeling this way all the time....
If by 'defeated' you mean 'accepted that it's part of who I am and have learned to live happily with it', then I'll raise my hand! :)...

Any success stories? Has anyone stuttered in the past, but defeated it in the end?...
I do. I try to just pause, but I feel like I need some type of filler as opposed to complete silence...
Late response but just found this sub: I stutter when I am tired. Usually I wax lyrical without a care in the world but when I am very tired (and that's very rare) and I have to concentrate, I stutter...
Yep, I always hated that part of school, too. What helped me was just planning what I was going to say *exactly*, and then speaking it as quick as I could. Keep things tight, and don't pause, because ...
I would say I get blocks on vowels and the letter "t" then once finally finish my sentence my tongue and lips feel like jello because they are exhausted from just trying to talk....
Yeh, I find that teachers (excuse my language) should fuck off with this introduction nonsense. Even people who are fluent dislike it....
Anytime!:)...
