Mainly I would have wanted that teacher to know that I had a stutter beforehand. I can't hate on him for asking me my name because it's such a simple question that people ask each other all the time. Stuttering is an invisible disability - you don't know someone has it until they start speaking (I should get "I STUTTER" tattooed on my forehead haha). In my view it was just a really unfortunate predicament. I know now that I have to be prepared for these situations. I could have made it a learning experience for him by explaining what happened after class but I just wanted to get out of there. A better response from this guy would have been to have patience. He was so pushy and wanted a response right away which only made it worse for me. He didn't consider any possible reason why I didn't speak. I wish in general people were more aware that occasionally they might run into somebody who struggles with something as simple as speaking and also know the appropriate response- which is why I'm glad you're asking questions here.
