Does anyone else croak on vowels and if so, do you have any tips on how to stop/improve? Stutterer in my late 20s and I'd say my stutter is severe these past few months. Since about 1.5 years ago I have been croaking on vowels and I never really stuttered like this before in the past. In fact, I would use to stutter on consonants and vowels would be easy. Now it is the opposite, and I'm not sure how/why. Now whenever I try to say a word that starts with a vowel or saying something like *I have "a" cat,* I will literally croak on the vowel for what can feel like 30 seconds. It will turn into *I have "a-aaaaaa aaaaaaaaaa-aaa-a"* cat and it feels like I can't say the next word until the vowel sound completes. It is super painful and stressful because this happens a lot at work in meetings and the voice call is just silent with me trying to string together a sentence. It almost feels like the vibratory muscles in my body/throat that are needed to make vowels just forgot how to work. It is worse than blocking on consonsants imo since I literally sound like a friggin toad lmfao (self depreciating humour keeps us going amirite?) I know I am being hard on myself, but God damn this shit is just annoying. **Any tips on how to get vowels out for those who block/croak on them?**
