If you were mute then you would lose more opportunities cuz some majors or jobs are straightforward refusing mute employees and won't admit of any of them as one of their staffs or whatnot. And you will achieve more difficulties of communications if you can only use sign languages(rare ppl are knowledgable about sign languages). So it won't be better if you were mute. Plus, after my four-month researches into stutter, stutter is a speech fluency disorder that can force excessive tensions onto your articulators due to your different neurology and the core of mitigating stuttering is to reduce the tensions. IMO the best technique to mitigate it is Gentle Speech, and it was introduced in my last post about it. If you don't bother checking it out, plz take a look at it and hope I can help u a lot:)
