Well, stammering that starts without an obvious cause is usually called a neurodevelopmental disorder. Since nobody knows from where in the brain it begins it's seriously hard to treat. Stammering caused by trauma to the voice box or throat such in the case of Drew Lynch is sadly usually permanent anyway. There are different therapies out there but therapy alone isn't usually enough to completely cure the affliction, especially when it's not specific to the problem.
