Why is stuttering really so misunderstood/noticed with everybody and all general societies? I am still quite young and was taking to a friend a while back about my stutter since it’s not anywhere as severe as many other people but it’s definitely there and of course I have some good days (I will stutter close to non) and some days are much worst but it’s generally not so bad and I was saying how difficult it can be with a stutter and how misunderstood it is to general people for some reason and my friend who is a good friend as well should I add and he doesn’t mind my stutter and he said how he doesn’t think it’s really as bad as I make it seem sometimes (but in a good way) and was taking about all these people in history who had stutters and still accomplished a lot with their life and saying how it’s of course a hard thing to deal with and going to be but you shouldn’t allow it to take over your life so much or try and act like this victim since it doesn’t fit me he said. I know he didn’t mean to try and say something that would try and make me feel like shit and was trying to do the opposite in fact and I completely understand what he’s trying to say, but for a while after every time I was out or tried to talk to anybody and stuttered and had to battle this thing everyday it brought me back to what he said and kinda made me feel like shit. But I can understand in this way like how people may bully someone who’s paralysed or just at least not truly understand what they truly go through every single day. But even with something like that it’s generally way more understood at least of how bad of a thing this person is going through, and it amazes me how misunderstood stuttering is with probably near everybody who doesn’t have one and in all societies I assume. Sorry for the long yap but I just wanted to say this on this reddit page and I can’t sleep.
