Do you stutter more around people close to you?

Do you stutter more around people close to you? I’ve had a stutter for as long as I can remember. It used to be pretty bad but I’ve learned to manage it over time (mainly by stopping giving a damn and being more comfortable with myself). Something I noticed is that I stutter way more around the closest people to me (family and good friends). But when I engage in a conversation with someone I’ve just met, somehow I barely stutter. Can anyone relate? I’m trying to understand the reason behind this. Maybe I stutter more with close friends and family because I subconsciously know that they’re used to me stuttering? Idk…
