When I used to get called on in school or at work to read something long, I would always just say "pass". You wouldn't believe how many other people began doing the same even though they didn't stutter! Some people just don't want to read out loud. Also, time is a concern and I don't want them to have to listen to me read one paragraph for 10 minutes. It only had to happen to me a few times before I decided to not do it again!
