I would absolutely reach out to him. It's hard to tell by what you've written if he'd be open and willing to speak with a young stutterer and mentor you in some way. If he's willing and caring to do so, I am positive he will be able to speak to you in a way you'll understand, impart wisdom, and be a friend. Some folks just don't have that personality, even as a stutterer, everyone's different. So, just don't get discouraged if you don't receive a warm and willing response back. You have so much to gain by just trying to reach out. Good luck to you !
