My words, for years, were always at the last of my breath too. It’s exhausting to speak that way. Starting with “I have a stutter”, like you said you’ve been doing, is a great way to own who you are and preface you conversation with a new person. It sounds like you don’t know anyone at the school — is there a name or nickname you like that you can say? “My friends call me Mick.” Might be easier to say than a sentence with more hard consonants. I’ve been there for sure. Own your stutter, like you are with being upfront about it, and it does get easier over time. I wish you the best!
