I don't know exactly what the professor said to you. Did they "shoot down" your paper in general, or the general topic of raising public awareness? It may be worth it to seek a further detailed response from the professor as they might have not been as clear as they intended. My only thought though is if the professor did in fact reject raising awareness that it may be due to the fact it sounds like a very hard topic to defend... even though as a PWS it sounds like a helpful solution to the societal stigma PWS deal with. To the root of your post, as a PWS self-acceptance has helped tremendously and probably one of the easiest things to change in general vs. the general public. I think something along the lines of self-acceptance would be helpful... but you've probably read through the literature on a much larger scale than I have.
