It will not go away. But you can definitely learn to control it. I'm not saying it'll be perfect, but you can manage your fluency to a very functional degree. Source: am an adult who stutters. Nobody in my life knows other than family and people I've told. Am also a speech therapist. I'll be honest with you. A lot of speech therapists are not comfortable treating stuttering because there is just simply not a lot we know and understand about it. I have had a lot of success personally and with treating other people. It can be done, but it takes a lot of practice and confidence. Feel free to pm me anytime for more info.
