I feel like they usually seem to be well intentioned when they say it but it's like, why even say it at all? In other contexts it would be a weird response. "I have a birth mark on my leg." "I didn't even notice!" Like do you think its taboo or are you actually that oblivious? I dont stutter , but next time I hear that phrase being said to someone who does I'm going to respond "Yeah, you don't seem like a very observant person"
