Just so you don't think it's due to any failing on your part. :) Stutter tends to vary with context (or rather, what we're performing in those contexts). There may be some sort of deeper connection to (communicative) identity, but I don't want to pretend like I know anything solid about this. I can only speak as someone who's been stuttering a long time. The example of acting without stutter is relevant here. Donning the "attitude" of "the debater" might have similar qualities. Not that it isn't subject to the fickleness of stutter variance in general, I'd say.
