Yes and it was aways the worst thing ever. Some of my teachers would allow me to refuse, but most did not. Or that whole "go around the room" and read thing. Ugh. But yeah it really sucks. Because a lot of kids don't understand stuttering, they'll turn and watch you read, or go especially silent so your voice practically echos. It's important to understand that most kids won't laugh at your stutter, they are actually very intrigued by it. It's so rare to here a person with a legitimate stutter. It's important to block everyone out. Stay calm and focus on your reading, your voice, any techniques you use, etc. Be patient with yourself. If ur worried about the class or the teacher being impatient, fuck em, because there's a lot worse they'll have to deal with in their lives. Take your time. **Make them wait**. Show them what a person with a stutter has to deal with every time they read. It'll be eye opening for them.
