Personally I’ve just recently starting using a couple strategies. The first strategy is called the hand release. (Made up the name, any name suggestions would be great). The way it works is that it acts as a guide for your talking. You start by putting your hand on the side of your leg. So let’s say you get stuck on the word “they”, like you said. You start with your thumb, and apply slight pressure to try and release the tension off the first two letters of the word, in this case being “th”. Then, as the sentence goes on, you use your fingers as a guide for your speaking. So it would look like: Example sentence: hypothetical stutter words will be in (). “(They) went (to) the store (to) pick up chicken” Thumb: pressure at the same time as you are releasing tension off the letters “th”. Pointer: pressure as you are getting stuck on “to”. Ect... You can use the fingers for whatever words you know you’re going to get stuck on. Or you can use the fingers as a guide for speaking. Try both ways. The biggest thing that worked for me was the thumb. My second strategy that I use is when I’m talking I act like I’m dancing or moving something heavy in my head. This gives me a little bit of rhythm. Honestly you could move around and sway a little bit, no one would notice. The last thing that I wanna talk about for strategies is meditation. I find that it brings me peace and it’s a great way to release tension in your body. I hope this helps :)
