A mild stutterer can be like Joe Biden, who spent his adult life talking all the time and became the president of USA; or Emily Blunt, or Bruce Willis, that no one would ever suspect their stuttering, had they not admit it at some point of time. A severe stuttering is a totally different story. I have seen PWS live a reclusive life, avoid human contact as much as possible, and someone who still want to pursue stuttering therapy in his 70s. Stuttering Foundation has done many great things for PWS, except one. Their poster that says “famous people who stutter”. I hate it. Most of the so called famous people who stutter have a very mild stutter, and if they actually stutter badly then they have an outstanding skill most probably in sports. For those with a sever stuttering, these famous people who stutter are not good role models and I hate other people tell PWS that “you can do it because XXX did it!” Really? Not the same thing.
