I think for the most part the cure to stuttering is already there. It’s no easy route but it’s basically to overcome your own inhibition in your life so you can accept your emotions and desires, and also freely express them. If you can learn to speak while having fun and feeling safe, the stuttering will begin to go away. Or at the very least, you won’t care that you stutter anymore. Purposely stuttering to other people to embarrass the heck out of yourself I think is crucial for achieving this! When we are trying not to stutter, we are tight and wound up. But when we stutter on purpose and exaggerate it to others, we loosen up, decreasing the stuttering. Read “Redefining Stuttering” by John Harrison. Best book I’ve ever read! Pair that with the Dave McGuire Program’s self- help book “Beyond Stammering: The McGuire Program for getting good at the Sport of Speaking”, and that’s a good combination!
