Nope, no contradicting happening here! Maybe it’s just semantics. Actually, severe dysfluency/blocking more closely parallels PTSD, as per professionals who actually study dysfluency. But I try to avoid saying that bc many folks get even more upset when hearing it. SA is the umbrella description. Beneath that are a variety of symptoms/presentations. Dysfluency *that only occurs around others* is just one. It’s vital to understand this if you want to understand and mostly eliminate the blocking and avoidance behaviors. 4 people in my family had Covid last week- they all had slightly different symptoms. This is how the human body (physical and social/emotional issues work).
