For some of us, it is a lifelong situation. And you're right, it is a struggle that only another person in our shoes can understand. Fluent speakers (non-stutterers) do sometimes have a stuttering mishap. But they won't understand the pain of being forced to read a whole damn page of a book, out loud, in class, in front of 30 other people (laughing and/or making comments), knowing that you have to read the exact words on the page, no substitutions; it is just stressful & the stress compounds into more stress/mistakes; and you just want to die. Just thinking about it is stressful. Fvck!
