I recently read a long biography of King George VI. Thought I'd share a couple pages. He'd been working on speech therapy for over a decade before becoming king. Still, look what he was faced with: people thinking he was not up to the job, not intelligent, not physically fit... there were even rumors that he had seizures just because he stuttered. I think we all know what this is like. There's such a stigma around stuttering, it's depressing. Anyway, King George VI is definitely one of my role models, because despite the lack of confidence people had in him, he worked really hard to do his job and ended up being extremely well regarded and a really important symbol during WWII. He's remembered for his bravery, determination, hard work, and devotion to his duty. Reading about him definitely encourages me not to give up.
