In my case no time doesn't help anything really except the older I get the less I care if I stutter in public or not. If you get lazy and let time go by without actively putting yourself out there & doing speech exercises you end up going right back to square 1 or get worse alot of times...for example I was half way fluent before Covid hit with less social anxiety. The isolation of the pandemic made me alot worse & I haven't gotten too much better since...I've tried speech therapy multiple times when I was younger and got no results really...when I was 24 I even paid $2500 for a 2 week speech class in Norfolk, Virginia (I don't know if your American & know where that is) at Ross Barrets stuttering institute. His class helped alot of stutterers become fluent. But for me it didn't help much long term, because my stuttering is trauma based & I get a severe stress response and get blocked up when I have to speak. My stuttering blocks are insanely strong.. But aside from all that I feel like when I force myself to get out of my comfort zone & try not to care it gets a little better. If you let time/years pass with no action you will stay the same or get worse. Take action & be pro active when you have the opportunity bro.
