My 2 cents: I am 49 years old, master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, married with 1 son AND a national trainer. My stutter started as a result from a traumatic dog attack at the age of 5. I've endured 12 years of bullying, teasing, mocking, etc. I've had 20 years of speech therapy coupled with hypnosis. My daily routine consists of: (1) Mindful meditation- 10 mins (2) Read out loud - 10 mins (3) Practice diaphragmatic breathing My biggest breakthrough is LEARNING to not focus on my stutter; I focus on breathing 😤. The more you think about your stutter, the more you are going to stutter. The more you focus on life and NOT your stutter, you stutter less. When I have a block, I stop, breathe and continue on. If there is a word that I continually have difficulty with, I practice saying that word for 2 hours every day for a week. Once you train your brain 🧠 to do something different, it remembers. The whole point of this is that this is HARD WORK and like what all my coaches told me, if you want to get better at a skill, you need to practice. Lastly, do a Google search for "Stuttering & YouTube " or "Stuttering & Podcast " you will SEE 👀 and HEAR 👂 some amazing and courageous people who stutter. PWS ( people who stutter) are COURAGEOUS, CREATIVE, RESOURCEFUL & RESILIENT. Reach out.
