I've used all sorts of them! It was um for a long time and it springs up every now and then. These are filler words like you said and are also caused helping sounds. The latter so, because we feel they help us say the word we are getting stuck on. The problem arises that they become a crutch and we tend to repeat the filler word over and over again until the word comes out. Your reliance on the filler word right now may be reserved for your name (say for example), but since it works, you'll start attaching it to other words too. This is no good, it'll just lead to developing a secondary habits. Right now, I tend to use the word 'basically' far too often and I am trying to cut it's usage down to zero. You have to make a conscious effort to stop saying it. And yes, it is very very much noticeable. I notice it when other people do it! How can they not notice it when you do it?
