Don't be afraid to check out different therapists too. Some people here have claimed that their first speech therapist was shitty For his experience in the public school system, there is a good chance he will be embarrassed and laughed at by all sorts of people. Even in highschool in AP classes with all the kind kids, they all would laugh at me when I tried to answer a question. A big part of this is that people just don't understand it and think it's something that is okay to laugh at. This may just be a reality that you will have to face head on That being said, life after graduation was so much easier! Stuttering in college and afterwards wasn't that embarrassing at all. Most all people were patient and understanding! Also, sounds like he is pretty young so not sure how much this applies, but sports helped me a TON. Intense physical activity would reduce my stutter to almost nothing. This helped me communicate and make friends with teammates during practice, which gave me a good foundation of support for struggles in the classroom. Hope some of this helps!
