Your issues sound like mine, I too experienced a great deal of stress in high school and my stuttering started off then with the same drawbacks as yours. Over the years, I fumbled my way through facing and sorting these issues, but eventually I decided to start with dealing my anxiety. I didn't seek a therapist, though in hindsight, that should have been the way to go, but I tried on my own researching different ways to cope through studying psychology. You don't need to take that long road, just go to therapy for help with your anxiety. Another thing I did, was to practice speaking clearly is reading aloud, there, I have to take my own time and really enunciate my words. I still do this, it really does help especially when I my mind is racing, it forces me to slow down. Unfortunately, I don't have many options for speech therapy in my country so my only experience there is a consultation with one speech therapist whose focus was kids.
