Why is stuttering so embarrassing to talk about? I notice that me, and a lot of other people who stutter are really embarrassed about their stutter and hate talking about it. Also it seems to be a common theme among us stutterers that we were in denial about it as kids. I'm not really sure why it's so embarrassing for me. I think it's probably just my internalized ableism making me think that my stutter makes me look "pathetic" or "dumb". know that it's a speach condition I can't help and it's not embarrassing. After all, there are a ton of different conditions that people have and talk about all the time, but it seems like stuttering is something that stutterers try to hide more than most other conditions. Why do you guys think that most people who stutter are so ashamed of it?
