Sounds very reasonable. Many years ago a New York speech pathologist who traveled the world had the same idea that you have. The prolongation, the breath after 2-3 words, slowing speech and other ideas you mentioned. He added stress reduction every night. He favored looking into the flame of a candle while it was on the edge of the bathtub while you were in the bathtub. His name is/was Martin Schwartz. If he’s no longer living, perhaps others have continued his methods. Maybe Google his name and check for any Wikipedia references. Good luck, Sue
