My bf went to speech therapy all k-12 and he mostly hated it. His favorite was the slp he had for his last two years of high school who would just play Scrabble or chess with him during their sessions. She’d intervene if anything came up with teachers (he’s crazy smart and a few times had teachers accuse him of plagiarizing/cheating because I guess they didn’t think somebody who stuttered could be capable of writing very well), but otherwise she just let him pick his least favorite class and then get to skip it to play games once a week. He did get good speech therapy as an undergrad at his school’s speech clinic. Maybe if the mom in the first post has a university near by, she can see if they have a speech clinic.
