In my 20's, on a bus in Oakland, CA with friends on our way to home base for a party. Meet another rider going there, he stutters. Friends give a funny look thinking he was making fun, I call the squad off. He's legit. Nice dude. After the ride we part ways. One friend asks "Why didn't you get his number?" To which I reply "Why TF would I want to do that?! I don't like to hear my self stutter, why would I want to hear someone else? Plus, you know how expensive that phone bill would be?!" We laughed. Went to the party. Things have changed. I'm more open to it but noncommittal. We need to accept ourselves before we can accept others. This isn't directed at folks in this group, I think this across the board. We're always a work in progress.
