To piggyback, the "multifactorial, epigenetic" model put forth by the [Purdue Stuttering Project](http://www.stutteringhelp.org/update-purdue) team seems the most robust theory, these days. It takes a very high-level view of the entire communication system. While it contains some good information, the "theories" presented in articles/blog posts like this, that attempt to zero in to minute level on "the key" to stuttering, just don't hold up, as you guys pointed out. Stuttering is a forest, one tree is not going have the answer.
