In college lots of kids can still be jerks. I remember trying to give a presentation on Shostakovich in music history class, and I had several blocking incidents during which I got stuck on a word for at least 5 seconds. A lot of the kids were laughing at me. Fortunately I had a professor who told those kids to shut up and knock it off, and once he did that it made it easier for me to finish the presentation.
