I always see it as my speech is flowing along, and then I walk up to a big heavy block/cube that's bigger than me. Sometimes I have to push the block away to get past it, sometimes I just go around it (use a different word), sometimes I back up and then plow through the cube, climb over it, or dig under it. Talking in an accent really helps do this. That metaphor makes the most sense to me.
