It is indeed only a piece to the puzzle. As I said in the comment, there is a lot more involved. But it's certainly a significant factor. When brain activity occurs, blood flow must follow in order to keep up with the demands of the neurons to supply them with energy and remove waste products. But hey, I'm glad you achieve fluency when you're confident man, that's awesome.
