This is a common problem for me, and I think most people who stutter. I am 36 so around the same age and also an introvert due to my stuttering. Sometimes I might just tell the person right off the bat that I stutter, before even introducing myself, and that seems to help and take the tension off. I've had a lot of people ridicule me for struggling to introduce myself. "You don't even know your own name"? It stinks and can be embarrassing... but I am glad this reddit exist so we can relate to each other and offers tips and help. I hope I helped.
