It wasn't until I got my first job that I realized that the everyday person you might interact with once or twice really isn't going to care that you stutter. I worked at a fancy country club and had to be friendly with the members and I would get some odd looks every now and again but it was really eye opening to see that even these super rich old people were generally pretty patient. That's definitely something I wish I would've realized earlier. The adults in my life always told me people wouldn't care but having someone tell you really isn't the same as experiencing it yourself. So I would encourage them to get out there and get as much experience speaking to people as possible.
