I stutter when I’m nervous ... Hey guys, I’m make this short and simple. I had a stuttering problem when I was a kid, I soon found out that it was due to me being shy and nervous around others. As I grew older I gained confidence in myself, and became more social. That’s when my stuttering eventually went away. Years later, I’m currently in a verbally abusive relationship that been going on for the past 3 years. I’m assuming due to so many years of arguments, and intimidation my stuttering came back. It’s probably worser than ever. I catch myself mispronouncing words I clearly know, or get tongue tied, I get stuck mid sentence/word , or even if I know the word I just can’t spit it out. The long term effects of verbal abuse has left me with the same lack of confidence I had when I was a kid. My stuttering is it’s worse when I’m around people I find intimidating ( not like cat and mouse, but more like employee and boss type of intimidation) and such. With the trauma in mind, how do I regain that confidence? How do I train myself once again to slow down and breath ? Any advice at all ?
