Yes, I think that I’m definitely better at reading people than others. And I think the reason is because I spent a lot more time with my mouth shut, observing and listening, than other people. Most people get the most enjoyment from speaking and only listen half-heartedly. Or even while they’re listening, half their brain cycles are busy thinking of what they want to say next. Whereas I was always more comfortable with my mouth shut, sitting quietly, and actively listening. Hence, the well-developed people reading skills. I consider this to be one of the blessings of growing up stuttering. The other is empathy.
