I definitely stutter on my name. It is common stutterers. I've realized that i stutter on the idea of my name, not the sound it begins with. Some have legally changed their name, only to find they begin to stutter on the new one instead. As a personal example, when i worked at a summer camp one year, we were required to pick and use a camp name. In the beginning i never or rarely stuttered on the camp name. By the end of the 3 months, I was stuttering more on the camp name (Ar-...) than i was on ny real name (Na-...). I've been getting slightly better at saying my name. Until I can practice enough to nail it, there's a loophole that helps me in the meantime. I've chosen a different, but similar sounding, name (Ni-...) and i repeatedly tell myself that that's my name right before i need to introduce myself with the real name. It's a nice brain trick to ease some anxiety out of the introduction. I've picked a single fake name to commit to so my brain believes it more. Crazy strategy nonetheless, but good luck whether you try it or not.
