It seems reasonable to have built anxiety/dread over being cut off, and those things can exacerbate a stutter. So the correlation is logical, although it's definitely not causation. Like how for many stutterers, what little fluency we have disappears once we put a phone to our ear. That doesn't mean the phone causes our stutter or is the reason for it. Just means we've developed a lot of anxiety around using the phone.
