That's right. God is omniscient or all knowing. He knows how our life will turn out and what choices we will make in the end. He doesn't interfere because he choose the create us with free will and the right to choose our own path, because of love. But he also gave us an alternative, in case we sin and stray too far from him as is evident is this verse from the Bible: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Although we may choose things that lead to our own destruction, he offers us a way to course correct also because he loves us. As I said before, if you love someone, you don't try and control them, but you do also offer them a hand if they fall.
