> But I firmly believe that we only stutter because we are afraid of certain words and spontaneity of speech I dont think we start out like this in the very beginning, but I think it manifests into this via a negative feedback loop we develop early on. My 5 year old has apraxia and now he has stuttered the past couple of months. It's going to be interesting to see what happens as I had (have?) a pretty severe stutter. We are taking the stance of doing nothing at the moment and not reacting to it at all. We have asked his therapist and teachers to do the same. My thinking if you can delay the negative feedback long enough, that it may go away (as it does with 85% of children; note:i am not insinuating all people who still stutter, had negative reactions to their stutter and still stutter because of it) or atleast becomes more manageable. If this time next year if he still stutters and it's negatively impacting things, then maybe we will revisit our strategy.
