Its the people's reaction M 19. So I went to ask for permission to play basketball at 2 places.. at a school and at a place called KAS. I stuttered at both places but there was a huge difference on the impact on my self esteem and mental health after the 2 places At the school, I stuttered normally while speaking to this security woman and she kept saying "wah" which is an expression for like "omg". That added my anxiety and made me stutter even more. That shit messed with my mental health and self esteem. I have never felt like shooting someone in the face. Istg i feel like driving there and shooting her in the face rn. At KAS I also stuttered when speaking to the coach and receptionist but they had no negative reaction at all. Especially the coach. They just listened to me as if they were used to hearing people who stutter. No faces, no "wahs" like the ugly security woman, no nothing. I ended up loving the coach on first meeting. What therefore makes us hate ourselves as stutterers is not that we stutter. Its the reaction of people we speak to. If they reacted like we speak normally, stuttering would have no effect on our mental health. I wont let that get to me though, i will move on and forget.
