long before the google voice assistant they had some 'labs' projects. One included a feature where you could call a phone number and say your search - and your browser would do that search. The other was a 1800 number with 311 like lookup service - voice powered search. As a young aspiring nerd I thought this was awesome - and it was still petty futuristic at the time. Considering where this conversation is you can guess how it went for me. I'm pretty sure I contributed significantly to their neural network learning the words like "fuck". Because of course I'm fluent when I loose my temper. I still try to use voice commands on my phone and probably have a 40% success rate - because it's safer than looking at my phone and driving.
